Behind the Camera: About Me

My name is Jamie Stricklin and I am a college student. I've been exposed to photography since I was a very small person. My mom was a professional children's photographer and I was her guinea pig. She passed away when I was 6, but she planted a desire in me to gain an interest in photography. I grew up using film and a few low mega pixel cameras (2.2 mega pixels was my first!!) and got my first "big girl" DSLR when I was 15. I used that camera for over 3 years and took about 75,000 photos with it. I got a new even "bigger girl" camera for my high school graduation and it has helped me grow so much as a photographer because it pushes me to perfect my images even more through manual shooting. I don't really see my photography business as a job, because I'm cultivating my creativity and passion in every photo that I take. Plus, it's way too fun to be a regular, mundane job!
